Songs of

Broken Soil

Songs of Broken Soil is an homage to the beauty and terror of rural Australia, through a  blend of haunting violin tunes, evocative prose, and sun-bleached imagery. With music from Australian composers and poetry by the violinist herself, Sophia transports us to a world where gods bask in flame-coloured skies and lovers bury their secrets under ghostly gum trees. Contemplating grief, love, and the stolen land we live on, this multi-media solo performance is not to be missed.

About the artist…

Sophia Di Lucchio is a multi-disciplinary violinist, poet, performer, and teacher, studying at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. With roots in classical training and branches outstretched to the modern and abstract, she regularly performs as a chamber, orchestral, and solo musician. Sophia is inspired by the possibilities of cross-genre performance, resulting in the birth of “Songs of Broken Soil”, a fusion of music, poetry, and photography. Sophia endeavours to expand this show to a collaborative project in future, and excitedly seeks out new and innovative opportunities from other budding musicians.
